I am all of you

Catching the train.

so …. chicago is known for it’s public transportation. it’s pretty great, at least i think so. however, i think one of the worst feelings is running up the stairs trying to catch the train, only to see the doors close right in front of you and the train depart while you are practically clinging to the side. sometimes when i get off the train and i walk down the stairs i’ll see people dashing to try to catch the train…. sometimes i say “you just missed it” sometimes i just think “that sucks, they missed it”. yesterday, i was getting off the train and started to descend the stairs and saw someone in their desperation trying to ascend the stairs to catch the train….. i stepped in the doorway and stopped the door so they could get on. (this never really happens) they were grateful. today i saw something i haven’t ever seen…. a person ascended the stairs to the train platform, but the train just started to move. let me preface this, trains NEVER stop once the doors close, let alone when they are moving. however, this train did. it stopped and let this ONE person on. seeing the relief and joy in their face was just awesome. i can imagine how they felt. that ONE act of kindness was so great. it even meant something to me. then i realized, that’s what it’s about. i proclaim that the meaning of life is: make life a little better for someone else. i will title a book that someday. and this will be the source of my inspiration. mark my words. it was cool to see. it was cool to be part of. it was just cool. that’s it. thanks for listening.
