I am all of you
one of my dreams
i want to start 3 scholarships, 2 of which will be to honor my parents, 1 will be to honor shania twain…. don’t judge, i know it sounds silly, but you’ll see why.
so i wanna do something to honor my parents and i want others to know them for the attributes i admire most in my mother and my father. to apply for the scholarship, the student will have to read a bio (not yet written) about each person. the student will then have to critically compare how they are similar. so, for the students applying for my scholarship, they will get to know my parents, at least a little. i think they are such wonderful people, i want their legacy to live on, always.
Scholarship #1 will be awarded to a student who is interested in pursuing a degree in a ‘helping’ profession. if i had to pick one thing i admire most in my mother is her willingness to always help. the back door is never locked. it’s never too late to call. she is never too busy. she is always there to listen. I have never met anyone who is so caring. even if they can make an argument that as a public accountant they will donate time to do taxes for the poor, then i would certainly consider the request.
Scholarship #2 will be awarded to a minority student who is interested in pursing higher education. minority can be anything from sexuality, race, religion, etc. the attribute i admire most in my father is his hard work ethic. i have never met anyone so willing to push through hard times and come out on top. my dad is not a guy who ever calls in to play hookie. he shows up and works hard. i have been so blessed to have him as a role model in my life. now, why would the scholarship go to a minority? because minorities often suffer oppression and they have to work very hard, most times even harder than other, to prove their worth. this scholarship is to honor a student who has worked extra hard to overcome oppression.
Scholarship #3 will be awarded to a student who has lost one or both of their primary care givers. When shania 21, both of her parents were killed in a horrible car accident. she had to move home to raise her siblings. i can’t even imagine how difficult this most be. this scholarship would be to honor a student who has faced a similar challenge.
the end.
