I am all of you

I wrote this poem about a friend of mine that was abused throughout his childhood.

Beat, bruise, hug, and beat some more.
Closed concept, know no light in love. Dash! Deadbolt the door.

Your skin is thick, ten tears do dry, only external hide,
Scars remember your memory prick, push the pain aside.

The man is hard. Know tuff, no tuff. Viscous veins shall knot the core.
The boy so swift, in silence be secure.
Hide heart in anger and you may ignore.

Meet men, turn trust, mere twist of hatred-ride,
Learned eyes look not behind, bewildered blue, they cannot hide.

Willows ‘round walls, bricks built high, ground great Elsinore.
Your poetry pure and Poe is pissed, so ‘quoth the raven nevermore’.

Confide? “I tried.” Confide. “I cried”. Dark and dim you do divide.
Inequality you sighed, multiplied. Multiplied.

Time two, time three, time to pass past. Erased now even up the score.
Love life, love self, and find rapport.

Feeling for failure. Damned and doomed. Against all odds defied.
Just then you jump. You fear, you fall, you find,
that love and loved can coincide.

Awake now and face the door
Your person free, be boy be man.
Your time has come and now you may explore.
